Reaching Costa Rica is easy from the rest of the world. Most major airlines offer service to the Juan Santamaria International
Airport in San Jose. The Inn is 37 miles (59 kilometers) north of the airport, exiting the Inter-American Highway at San Ramon.
For a complete list of airlines flying to Costa Rica, see Costa Rica Travel Review’s updated list. San Jose is the airport of choice for reaching Coyote Mountain, though international flights also arrive in Liberia in Guanacaste
Province. Renting a car either in San Jose or at the airport is easy. Taxis also provide service almost anywhere in the country.
Coyote Mountain can be reached in about one to ane and a half hours from the Juan Santamaria Airport near San Jose. The
Inn recommends renting a car and driving to the hotel. 4-wheel drive or vehicles with high clearance are recommended, though cars and vans can make it
as well during the dry season. Alternatively, 4-wheel drive taxi service is available from nearby San Ramon. Airport pickup
can also be arranged for about $75, each direction. Coyote Mountain is conveniently located on the way to various other destinations
from San Jose and the Central Valley, including Arenal Volcano, Tabacon Resort, Guanacaste beaches, Monteverde, the southern
Nicoya beaches via Puntareans ferries, and the Four Seasons Resort.
Costa Rica is a small, mountainous country about the size of West Virginia bordered to the south by Panama and to the north
by Nicaragua. The government has substantially improved many roads over the past few years, though driving can still be challenging,
with many dirt and gravel routes through the countryside. Thus, distances can be deceptive to those used to driving better
roads. Going 50 kilometers can sometimes mean well over an hour behind the wheel. To explore this beautiful country, travelling
an hour or two to your destination is almost always necessary and worthwhile.
Coyote Mountain is centrally located, close to many attractions in both the mountains and the Pacific coastal lowlands.
As the crow flies, the Inn is very close to famed Monteverde, being just north in the same chain of mountains, overlooking
the ocean.
